The Institute of Intelligent Systems for Automation (ISSIA), from the National Research Council (CNR) of Italy has three divisions located respectively in Bari, Genoa and Palermo.

The Robotics Group conducts applied research in a wide range of areas including computer vision, human-robot interaction, 3D reconstruction, robot software architecture, autonomous navigation, signal processing and so on.

ISSIA has two main robotics laboratories: one is dedicated to developing land robots and is located in Bari; the second, instead, is dedicated to developing marine robots and is in Genoa. Both laboratories conducts high-quality research under collaborative projects with university, public institutions and industry.
