ISSIA CNR – Bari
Alberto Refice received the Laurea degree in physics in 1994, from the University of Bari, with a thesis on polarimetric SAR data calibration. In 1998 he received the Ph.D. in physics from the Dipartimento Interateneo di Fisica Bari, discussing a thesis on SAR interferometry and GIS applications. He was at the same University as a Post-Doc researcher from 1998 to 2000, and then as a contract Researcher from 2000 to 2001. He is presently with CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche) – ISSIA (Istituto di Studi sui Sistemi Avanzati per l’Automazione) as a Researcher. He has a background on statistical characterization of both polarimetric and interferometric radar data. He has also experience in GIS and remote sensing integration, and has collaborated to several ESA projects involving development of applications for satellite data processing and ingestion into geographic data management tools.
His research interests concern advanced processing techniques for radar data, and their applications to the retrieval of geo-biophysical parameters, with emphasis on SAR interferometry and environmental hazards.
His work is mainly focused on radar interferometry, persistent scatterers interferometry, and wide-band SAR applications. He has a background on statistical characterization of both interferometric and polarimetric radar. He has experience in GIS and remote sensing integration, and has worked in several projects involving development of applications for satellite data processing and ingestion into geographic data management tools. He is involved in several national and international projects on SAR data analysis, mainly focused on applications to environmental hazard modeling and management. More recently, he is getting involved on development of modeling tools for the interpretation of geomorphological surface processes and landscape evolution.
