ARCHEOSCAPES: Innovative Technologies for the ARCHAEOlogy of  landSCAPES: diagnostics and archaeological impact evaluation for planning and management of territory and for the knowledge, protection and fruition of archaelogical patrimony

ABSTRACT

The Archaeoscapes strategic project aims to address the study and development of a semi-automatic demonstrator for the production of probability maps related to the presence of significant archaeological sites. These maps are built by  processing multi-sensor data coming from sources of different nature. This system will be able to store, compare and manipulate data from these sources in a completely transparent way to the user. The demonstrator will show a set of layers that will provide information on historical data, physical characteristics of the area of interest and results of signal and image processing. All this information is used for cataloging and producing maps with the aim of building the so-called “predictive archeology.” The dataset will be converted and processed in the same Geographical Reference System.
