ISSIA CNR – Palermo
Received the M.Sc. degree “summa cum laude” in Electronic Engineering from the University of Palermo in 1990 discussing a thesis on “Cardiac stimulation by electromagnetic fields”. He received the PhD degree in Electronic, Information Technology and Telecommunication Engineering in 1994 presenting a thesis on “Microwave effects on cardiac cells: proposed of an interaction model”.
He is researcher with the Institute of Intelligent System for Automation since 2001 and the scientific activities are in the ING-IND/33 and ING-INF/07 sectors.
His scientific activity is summarized in more of 100 papers published in national and international journals and presented in international and national conferences.
His main scientific interests fall within the ERC “PE7 – Systems and Communication Engineering: Electrical, electronic, communication, optical and systems engineering” and the principal issues are: electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), power-line communication in medium and low voltage systems, Intelligent Electronic Devices for Smart Grids, Distributed Measurement System for Smart Grids.
He was scientific responsible for ISSIA of two projects, REIPERSEI and SERPICO, with SME funded by POR FESR Sicilia 2007-2013 on smart grid development and power line communication He collaborates with some Italian Universities (Palermo and Cassino) and SME (STMicroelectronics, Layer Electronics srl, Elettromeccanica di Domenico Mangano e C. S.a.s., Impresa Elettrica D’Anna e Bonaccorsi S.n.c. , SEA Società Elettrica di Favignana S.p.a.).
He is co-author of one international patent with ST Microelectronics srl on power line communication for medium and low voltage application.
