MASSIME – Mechatronic innovative safety systems (wired and wireless) for railway, aerospace and robotic applications.

ABSTRACT

The adoption of Europe 2020 pillars, the European Strategy for Smart, Sustainable, and Inclusive Grow European Strategy, is forthcoming at National and Regional Level. The expectation about this strategy includes a strong reply to the Big Social Challenges in terms of Innovative Solutions – competitive and sustainable – set up by Products, Services, Processes and Business Models, at high value added, built on Research and Innovation. In this frame, the role of Consorzio MEDIS is to define and manage the development and implementation of suitable enabling technologies to achieve products and services at high added value, being them competitive and sustainable on the global market.

SUMMARY

The project MASSIME aims to develop, in details, wired and wireless, innovative mechatronic safety systems for railway, aerospace and robotics applications, formed by a combination of sensors and microelectronic technologies and supported by a suitable software infrastructures. The implementation of each innovative solution will be oriented to the growth of performance, safety and reliability, to the optimisation of the operation costs and to the recovery of parts and components, according to an eco-friendly disposal cycle.
The collaborative nature of the project provides synergic opportunities for the use and development of common hardware/software architectures, fostering the technology transfer of the results at the end of the project. The feasibility of technical solutions originated by research activity, will be evidenced through the set up of full-scale Demonstrators in specific test environment.
