ISSIA CNR – Palermo
Massimiliano Luna received the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering with full honours and the Ph.D. degree in Energy Science from the University of Palermo (Italy) in 2004 and 2009, respectively. He attended a course in embedded systems at Scuola EAS-Altran in 2004. He qualified as a Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer in 2011 and he attended two courses in timing analysis of FPGA-based systems at Altera corp. in 2012.
Since 2005 he is an official chartered engineer. He spent one year doing research activities in the automotive field at Sivibus s.p.a. in 2005. From 2007 to 2009 he was an academic tutor at the University of Palermo. He finally joined CNR-ISSIA (National Research Council – Institute on Intelligent Systems for Automation), Italy, in 2009, where he currently works as a permanent technologist researcher. His research interests are in the following fields:
Dr. Luna holds the IT patent n. RM2013A000272 for a novel wind-energy conversion system. He has authored several scientific papers and co-authored a book chapter (M. Di Piazza, G. Vitale. Photovoltaic Sources: Modelling and Emulation. London, UK: Springer, 2013). Furthermore, he has served as a reviewer of the following journals and conferences: IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE IET Power Electronics, Bentham Science TOREJ (The Open Renewable Energy Journal), IEEE ICEM (International Conference on Electrical Machines).
